3 Tips On How To Keep Your Natural Hair Regimen On Point During The Holidays

The holiday season is in full swing and many of us naturals have trips planned, whether it’s visiting family, or taking a vacation, December is one of the busiest travel months of the year!

With that said just because you are away from home, doesn’t mean you have to let your hair regimen fall apart. Here are 3 tips you can use to maintain your regimen during the Holiday season.

1. Use travel sizes

I hate checking bags at the airport which means either not carrying natural hair products with me or using travel size products that can be carried on the plane. Many natural hair product brands have travel sized versions! So, if you are worried about being able to fit your full sized bottle of shampoo or conditioner in your carry on, you don’t have to!

2. Wear a protective style

This may be a no brainer, but typically when I go out of town, I like to use that as the time to install a protective style. This way, I don’t have to worry about manipulating my natural hair for the 2 weeks or however long I’m away from home.

A protective style doesn’t always have to mean weave or extensions. You could cornrow your own hair, and then simply throw on a wig, or flat twist your hair, and just rock the style without unraveling. The goal here is to limit styling daily.

3. Visit a local stylist

If you are going back home for the holidays, and plan to be there for an extended amount of time, like me, you could schedule an appointment with a stylist in the area or an old stylist that used to care for your hair back in the day.

The stylist who did my hair ever since I was old enough to start going to the salon, always leaves a slot for me in her schedule to give my hair some care whenever I’m home visiting.
