I know what you’re thinking. Smoothies and hair growth? Well everyone has different wants and needs when it comes to giving your hair growth a needed boost. For some, hair vitamins are the best way, but what if you can get your push from what you eat such as a smoothie?!
What you consume often has a direct effect on your body, hair included. We all know the major component needed for hair growth is biotin, and when you add this with protein, which our hair is made out of, it can be enough to see a difference.
Here’s one appetizing smoothie recipe for those who want to be hair growth conscious for what they eat!
Nutty Mango-Banana Smoothie
What you will need:
- 1 ½ cups almond milk (or any milk of choice)
- 1 large banana
- 1 small bowl of mango slices
- 1-2 tbsp. peanut butter
Add all the ingredients to a blender and blend until smooth.
Why is this smoothie great for hair growth?
As stated earlier, biotin is key factor in hair growth and bananas happen to be rich in it. Nuts, such as peanuts in peanut butter, are great sources of protein. Because our hair is essentially made out of protein, when we consume protein-rich foods our bodies are able to synthesize more protein, such as keratin when is found in hair. In addition to that, nuts are packed with fatty acids which are great for keeping the scalp moisturized so that we have lustrous, well-hydrated hair.
Lastly, the mangos in the smoothie not only provide a yummy flavor, it’s a fruit that is high in Vitamin A and C that are great for both growth and the appearance of hair. They are also a great source of antioxidants that can unclog the hair follicles in the scalp allowing your hair to grow freely.
